FOREST: a book based on a personal playlist, where I selected music that evoked a forest-like feeling. This publication focuses on the lyrics — songs without lyrics were given a blank page with only the title. Verses and choruses were distinguished by playing with text alignment.
This publication was simply made to appreciate the poetry of lyrics on its own. But at the same time it was a bold experiment to appreciate music in a typographic way. A data-analyzing website for songs inspired me to include certain metrics, such as energy, danceability and happiness. In a way, this provides a sense of grasping the ‘feeling’ of the songs. Yet at the same time, it feels meaningless and detached.
The book’s cover features all the bands included in the playlist, arranged by the frequency of their appearance.
